Unilever Ghana Plc has appointed Setutsi Goka Ivowi — better known as Tucci Ivowi — as a Non-Executive Director, marking the return of one of Ghana’s most accomplished corporate leaders to a company where her professional journey first took shape.

The appointment took effect on October 1, 2025.

The move is part of Unilever Ghana’s broader push to deepen corporate governance and strengthen its board with seasoned professionals whose experience spans multiple sectors and markets.

Ivowi, the former Chief Executive Officer of the Ghana Commodity Exchange (GCX), brings more than two decades of experience in marketing, brand management, and business transformation across Africa, Europe, and Asia.

A Record of Transformation

At GCX, Ivowi oversaw the institution’s evolution from a policy-driven initiative into a functioning marketplace that connected smallholder farmers to structured trade and better prices.

Under her leadership, the Exchange expanded its reach, promoted transparency in commodity trading, and laid the groundwork for the creation of the AfCFTA Association of Commodities Exchanges — a continental effort to link markets across Africa.

Her tenure at GCX followed a long career in the private sector, most notably at Nestlé, where she rose through the ranks to become the first female and first Ghanaian Business Executive Officer of Nestlé Central & West Africa Ltd.

There, she managed operations across 22 countries, driving what colleagues described as “purpose-driven growth” anchored in innovation and strategic clarity.

Full circle

Earlier in her career, she worked with Unilever and British American Tobacco as an agency partner, helping global brands connect with consumers through insights that bridged emotion, behaviour, and business strategy.

Now, she will sit at the table where those insights inform broader decisions about Unilever Ghana’s growth and sustainability.

A new chapter for the board

Ivowi joins three other new Non-Executive Directors — Angela Kyeremanten-Jimoh, Peterson Ekow Afedzie, and Djabanor Narh — all effective from October 1.

Together, they represent a cross-section of leadership from finance, technology, and governance, underscoring Unilever Ghana’s effort to balance commercial growth with inclusive leadership.
