Labari Journal Submission Guidelines

The Labari Journal welcomes original, well-researched, and compelling stories that provide deep insights into technology, business, and society in Ghana and Africa.

We seek submissions that are factual, analytical, and thought-provoking. Please review our guidelines before submitting your work.


1. General Requirements

  • Submissions must be original and not previously published elsewhere.
  • Articles should be between 600 to 1800 words.
  • We accept investigative pieces, opinion essays, analytical reports, and in-depth feature stories.
  • Proper citations and references must be included for data, quotes, and third-party information.

2. Story Topics

We are particularly interested in stories covering:

  • Technology & Innovation: Emerging tech trends, startups, digital transformation.
  • Business & Economy: Market insights, entrepreneurship, industry shifts.
  • Policy & Regulation: AI policies, internet governance, cybersecurity.
  • Lifestyle: New lifestyle trends, interesting community developments
  • Society & Culture: Legal rights, disability issues, music business development etc
  • Investigative Journalism: Uncovering significant developments in politics or any areas of interest

3. Writing Style & Format

  • Use clear and concise language; avoid unnecessary jargon.
  • Structure articles with a compelling lead, body with substantiated arguments, and a strong conclusion.
  • Headlines should be engaging yet factual.
  • Provide relevant images or data visualizations (with proper attribution if not original).

4. Submission Process

If you do not hear from us within three (3) business days, you can follow up by emailing us at submissions@labarijournal.com

A member of our team will read and review every submission. We may not be able to respond to everyone individually if we experience large numbers of submissions.

OR

  • Submit your article in Google Docs or Word format (We prefer Google Docs to make corrections or suggestions easier)
  • Email submissions to submissions@labarijournal.com with the subject line: “Story Submission: [Your Title]”.
  • Include a brief author bio (2-3 sentences) and a high-resolution photo (optional).
  • If pitching an idea before writing, send a 3-5 sentence summary outlining the story angle

5. Editorial Review & Response

  • Our editorial team will review submissions within 24-48 hours.
  • Accepted articles may undergo edits for clarity, length, or factual verification.
  • We reserve the right to decline submissions that do not align with our standards or editorial focus.
  • If accepted, you will receive publication details
  • You will be credited with the article and given your own byline/credit

6. Ethics & Confidentiality

  • Do not submit content that is defamatory or plagiarized
  • If reporting on sensitive issues, ensure source confidentiality and ethical journalism practices.
