Beyond The Surface
Lagos Fringe is a platform for experimental and independent performance arts, born out of the city’s vibrant but often underrepresented creative edges. Though smaller and edgier than mainstream arts events, Fringe events consistently incubate new talent in theatre, multimedia, spoken word, and cross-genre expression.
This November, Lagos becomes the stage where Africa’s most dynamic storytellers, creators, and cultural pioneers meet. Entertainment Week Africa, the continent’s flagship gathering for the creative economy, returns with a bold mission: to “Close the Gap.”
Organised by the Book Buzz Foundation, Aké’s mission is to promote African creativity through literature, art, and critical dialogue, with its own publication, the Aké Review, amplifying new writing and voices. The theme for 2025, its 13th edition, is “Reclaiming Truth,” a call to confront misinformation, reclaim narrative agency, and champion the integrity of storytelling
